Winter Glow
Though daylight hours are limited this time of year, December in Woodstock, Vermont brings a new illumination to our community. The winter glow has arrived with sparkling stars hanging over the Inn’s front lawn, glimmering lights wrapped around the village green like a hug, and the trees along the town sidewalks lit up with whimsical twinkles. Holiday magic streams through the streets as wreaths go up on every door and our pastry elves construct the sweetest house of all – a life-size gingerbread cottage in our lobby! Days filled with adventures in fresh snow and nights spent in cozy flannel blankets, there is joy and wonder this time of year at Vermont’s most beautiful address.
More to Celebrate!
Our favorite feasting holiday has come and gone, and as we finish off our Thanksgiving leftovers, we’re reminded of all the exciting celebrations there are to come! Woodstock’s Annual Wassail Weekend kicks off the cheer with sleigh bells, carols, and twinkly lights across town. Always the second weekend in December, this is everyone’s favorite celebration to join us in Woodstock! We recommend reserving your stay for next year’s event as soon as you can.
Next up, cookie decorating, visits with Santa Clause, and nightly wine and cheese tastings alongside the life-size gingerbread house in our lobby. Between Christmas and New Year’s, we host daily events for our guests to fill their stay with joy. And you can’t forget the ultimate party to welcome 2023! Our NYE Gala includes a decadent dinner, an overflowing dessert buffet, and dancing 2022 away to one of our favorite bands – A House On Fire!
A Winter Day
Snow-lover or woodstove-lover, winter in Woodstock has everything you need to enjoy the snowy season! Here are some of our favorite ways to spend a winter day:
- Start the morning off with a snowshoe up Mt Peg! A short winter hike will invigorate you for the day. Rentals, gear, and more are all available at our Nordic Center.
- Next, pick up some speed on the slopes of Saskadena Six, our alpine ski area. With 24 trails and short lift lines, this is the perfect mountain for midday runs.
- On your way back into the village, stop at the local shops. A new winter sweater, cozy flannel blanket, or a painting of the Vermont landscape are perfect reminders of the great winter day you’ve had!
- As a chill comes on, it’s time to relax into the evening. A yoga class or a soak in the heated indoor pool and hot tub at our Woodstock Athletic Club are perfect apres-ski activities.
- Finally, to end the night we’d grab a delicious dinner in the cozy Richardson’s Tavern. Take your nightcap to the magical lobby fireplace and relish the winter day you had!
